Malus 'Red Sentinel' Crab Apple

A lovely Crap Apple that has been in cultivation for over 60 years and during that time has proven itself to be a strong and reliable garden performer providing multiple seasons of interest.
Regarded as one of the best fruiting crab apples ‘Red Sentinel’ also has a tremendous floral display in spring. Flower buds start deep pink in colour before opening to a glorious single white blossom. The mid to dark green foliage fills the rounded canopy throughout the summer months as the fruit begins to develop along the branches. Its on frosty winter mornings however when the tree comes into its own. Masses of shiny, deep red fruits glisten in the low winter sun providing a spectacular display right through the barren winter months.
M. ‘Red Sentinel’ will perform well in any reasonable garden soil and should attain a height of 5-8m. An excellent addition to gardens large and small, providing almost year-round interest. Fully Hardy
