The Turkey Oak, well known for its fast growth and traditionally its use for quality timber production was introduced into the UK in 1735. This large deciduous tree is a great choice large gardens, parklands and pastures.

Q. cerris is a magnificent large stately that can reach 15-20 meters in height and spread. Its bark is one that is unique with a rough, cracked texture and a silver-grey colour which contrasts very well with its dark green lobed leaves. These leaves then provide a pleasing autumnal display of golden yellow and often remain on the tree well into winter

Whilst its common name may lead you to believe that it does best in warmer climates the Turkey Oak in fact is a very tough and robust tree capable of withstanding all our weather can through at it and indeed is very useful in coastal locations. Fully hardy
