About This Tree
Named after a mountain in its native China, Prunus 'Kanzan' has been gracing our gardens and parks for over a century now since it was first introduced just before the onset of World War I. During this time, it has proven to be a very popular selection with its reliable strong growth and ornamental characteristics.
The leaves emerge a deep bronze colour before turning green throughout the summer. Then come autumn they turn again into a glorious display of burnt orange and reds. It is the spring blossom however that sets Kanzan apart. Large double pink flowers adorn the tree in mid to late spring, smothering the ascending branches. With age the tree develops a more rounded shape.
A great choice for a reliable pink, spring flowering tree to bring cheer to the garden for many decades. Kanzan grows well on any reasonable garden soil and is fully hardy.
