About This Tree
The Holly Tree, also known as the Ilex aquifolium ‘Alaska’ is one of the cultivars of the aquifolium. This particular tree is notably different due to its short but still spikey leaves that are found on the tree.
The Holly being an evergreen tree provides a splendid display of deep green foliage throughout the year meaning it looks great when the sun is out during summer but also still provides some colour into the wintertime when many of trees would be bare. Its leaves are pointed like a typical holly leaf and also can be seen with some red berries all year which really does add a bit of contrast in colour which makes this tree stand out well against the rest.
Performs well on well drained, fertile soil with some sunlight. Can tolerate most soil types. Able to withstand cold and urban areas.
