About This Tree
A small tree but one with an extended almost year long season of interest.
In the depths of winter when little else provides hope of brighter days, Cornus mas bursts into life with an abundance of small showy yellow flowers freckled on its bare branches. Later in the year bright red cherry like fruits - which are edible - give a striking display just as the leaves turn a delightful reddish-purple through autumn.
Long cultivated as a voluptuous multi-stem, we supply it in a form which can easily be trained to a straight standard, or left to develop its own natural shape. A resplendent addition to any garden - especially where space is a premium - it grows well in any reasonable soil and is fully hardy to UK growing conditions.
