The Cornus kousa 'White Giant,' commonly known as the White Giant Dogwood, is an exceptional ornamental tree admired for its striking beauty and versatility in the landscape. This deciduous tree boasts large, showy white bracts that bloom in late spring to early summer, creating a stunning visual display. The bracts surround small, greenish-yellow flowers, which are followed by attractive, raspberry-like red fruits in the fall that are not only ornamental but also attract birds.

Key features of the White Giant Dogwood include its mature height and spread, which generally reaches around 6 to 9 meters in height and a similar spread of 6 to 9 meters, forming a graceful, vase-shaped canopy. The foliage turns a beautiful reddish-purple in the autumn, adding to its multi-seasonal interest. The tree's bark, which exfoliates to reveal a patchwork of grey, tan, and brown, provides winter interest and texture.

The White Giant Dogwood thrives in well-drained, acidic to neutral soils, although it can tolerate a range of soil types from sandy to clay, provided it is not waterlogged. It prefers full sun to partial shade, making it adaptable to different garden settings. Adequate moisture is essential, especially during establishment and hot, dry periods. This tree is relatively low-maintenance and resistant to many common dogwood diseases, making it an excellent choice for gardeners and landscapers seeking a resilient and attractive specimen tree.
