About This Tree
The Desert Willow, also known as the Chitalpa ‘Pink Dawn’ is an exotic tree which is a hybrid of the Catalpa bignonioides and the Chilopsis linearis. This was introduced in 1964 in Uzbekistan and provides a great flowering tree during the summer time.
The Pink Dawn, as the name suggests has bright pink orchid-like flowers during the summer which provide a beautiful sweet perfume that it well liked with garden bugs such as butterflies. During the spring and summer, Desert Willow can seen with mid green, long and narrow leaves which give a very exotic look, especially with the right setting during the summer.
The Pink Dawn is a very tough tree, being able to withstand harsh conditions including cold and drought. It performs best in direct sunlight and well drained soils. If planted well it will grow within a short amount of time.
