Acer platanoides 'Crimson Sentry', commonly known as Crimson Sentry Norway Maple, is a striking deciduous tree prized for its vibrant foliage and compact form. This tree is particularly noted for its deep crimson to purplish-red leaves that maintain their rich colour throughout the growing season. In the spring, the foliage emerges with a bright, almost glowing red hue, providing a bold colour contrast in any landscape.

Key features of the Crimson Sentry include its upright, columnar growth habit, making it an excellent choice for smaller gardens or as a striking vertical accent in larger landscapes. At maturity, this tree typically reaches a height of around 6 to 8 meters with a spread of approximately 3 to 4 meters. Its dense foliage and controlled growth make it an ideal candidate for urban planting, where space can be limited.

Crimson Sentry Norway Maple thrives in a variety of soil types, including clay, loam, and sandy soils, provided they are well-drained. This tree is quite adaptable to different pH levels, tolerating both acidic and alkaline conditions. For optimal growth, it prefers full sun to partial shade, although the best leaf coloration is achieved in full sun. Additionally, this maple is quite hardy and can withstand urban pollution, making it a robust and decorative choice for cityscapes and suburban areas alike.
