Acer campestre 'Red Shine' is a beautiful cultivar of the native Acer campestre.  Holding many of the parent qualities this is a small-medium sized tree, with an upright growing habit.

The leaves of this cultivar are stunning crimson in spring, fading to dark green in summer, then in Autumn the leaves become vibrant yellow, offering season round visual interest. It produces yellow-green flowers in May that develop into pairs of winged seeds which are also very valuable for bees and butterflies.

This is an ideal tree for planting in urban and coastal areas or sheltered gardens as it will thrive in sun or partial shade but it needs the shelter to protect the leaves from scorch.  Prefers well-drained soil types and can tolerate salty conditions.
