Magnolia ‘Galaxy’ is a cross between Magnolia liliiflora and Magnolia Sprengeri ‘Diva’. It makes beautiful tree that is best seen in spring when covered in dark pink, lightly scented, tulip shaped flowers a beautiful sight and great addition to any garden.
The Magnolia can be seen blooming during mid-late spring, usually ensuring they will escape any damage from late frost. The flowers that have a beautiful fragrance to them have are light purple on the outside and a paler rose colour within the flower. The tree has a pleasing upright shape with ascending branches displaying dark green and oval shaped leaves. This beautiful display of flowers and leaves shall last long throughout the rest of the spring and into the summer. 'Galaxy' earned a RHS Award of Garden Merit in 1993
'Galaxy' like most Magnolias grows best when in full sun and is best grown in slightly acidic and organically rich soils. The tree is also adaptable to clay or sandy soils but will grow poorly in wet soils. Best planted within a sheltered area to ensure the flowers and leaves don’t get damaged. Full Hardy
